Today's "Historical Picture of the Day" is a little off from the beaten path of historical pictures, and that's what makes this one unique. This man is from the mid 19th century. He was a California resident and grew his exceptional beard for 11 years, which came to a total length of approximately 8 feet! This is something you don't see nowadays. In fact, you could say that his beard acted as a scarf in cold weather.
